Alphacam 2018 R1, by Vero Software, Featured Jan. 29-Feb. 1 at International Surface Event StonExpo/Marmomac in Las Vegas, Nev.

The Alphacam solution for stone, metal and wood, by Vero Software, will be shown Jan. 29-Feb. 1 at International Stone Event StonExpo/Marmomac, hosted at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nev.

StonExpo/Marmomac will feature specialty stone and machinery areas with exhibitions of stone and stone supplies from seven countries. Shown will be stone software, tools, equipment, services, and demonstrations from leading manufacturers and associations. The International Surface Event is the largest trade show in North America dedicated to the stone, tile, and floor-covering industries. Comprised of the StonEpo/Marmomac, Tile Expo and SURFACES trade shows, the event will offer hands-on demonstrations and educational opportunities in addition to the latest in products and services.

Visitors to StonExpo can learn more about Alphacam 2018 R1 at booth No. 3546, where demonstrations of new features and upgrades will be available. Also featured on the booth will be a Hexagon ROMER arm by Vero parent company Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence. Complete with a scanner, the flexible measuring arm scans parts to collect data that can then be easily imported into Alphacam, after which toolpath can be applied.

Alphacam is one of the most widely used CAM software packages in the stone industry, and its latest release contains two major enhancements for stone companies. Those enhancements include increased support for Guard visualization when creating disk-cutting toolpath, and a new option for including extra passes at profile walls when roughing in the Cut with Disk operation.

The increased support for Guard visualization improves the Geometry Disk Cutting and Surface Disk Cutting cycles. The Guard can also be visualized when selecting elements in layer mapping and changing tools during an operation, along with selecting toolpath elements from the layers tab. This helps users to graphically see the disk guard when creating toolpath, and how the guard will be orientated during cutting.

The new option for including extra passes at profile walls when roughing in the Cut with Disk operation allows extra passes to be set regardless of the specified width of cut, and ensures excessive stock is removed from the profile walls for finishing.

This upgrade means that users no longer have to create an extra operation or define a small width of cut to remove unwanted stock at the walls.
