Advanced Machining Functions

This 2 hour online course will explore some of the more common but relatively unknown Advanced Machining techniques available in Standard modules or higher of Alphacam.

Course Description

An experienced Alphacam Training Engineer will guide you through the added benefits of doing Sloping, Profiled and Auto Z machining with the typical everyday Rough/Finish or Pocketing routines. Expand your knowledge of doing Partial machining with Rough/Finish routines. Receive an in-depth technical explanation of 3D Polylines including how to create them, how to extract them from external cad input, and how to edit and machine the 3D Polylines. We will also discuss some of the more popular Edit Machining options available to you like adjusting rapids, editing feed rates and applying support tags.

Automated Parametric Manufacturing

The Automated Parametric Manufacturing (APM) Training course will guide the student through the window and door manufacturing process. It is imperative that the student understands the topics covered in APM Training in order to successfully implement the software in their facility. It is essential for students to remain consistent with the software. From the Work Planes level to the Constraints, and then to APM, if they are not consistent, they will not be able to achieve desired results. Every step of the process is tied to the next; if the student cannot create and manipulate Work Planes successfully, then any Constraints they apply will most likely not react the way the student intended. Each instructor will set aside some time on the last day of training to go over any issues the students have to ensure that each student understands the complete process and is able to correctly use the software. The students can also test out the software on things that may be specific to their manufacturing needs and practices. This allows the students the opportunity to use the software in “real world” situations while still being able to take advantage of the instructor’s expertize.

CDM provides an Alphacam environment to process customer orders for an unlimited range of doortypes of custom sizes from an extensive library of door styles.

Constrained Parametric Sketching 101

The Design Constraint Manager in Alphacam  allows us to take charge of how our sketches react when elements within the sketch are modified. Element lengths and distances between elements can be driven by parameters and the sketch re-solved instantly. This is an excellent tool for any manufacturer making families of parts with dimensional changes. Fully constraining a sketch eliminates distortion of the shape when dragging. We can also drive the behavior with Parameters set at values. These can control dimensions of length, distance, angle and radius values, etc. 

Prerequisite: Introductory Alphacam Training Course or 6 months min. experience with Alphacam.  Also note that the techniques discussed during this class requires Advanced or Ultimate levels of Alphacam. If you have an Essential or Standard module of Alphacam, you are more than welcome to attend, but you will not have this functionality without upgrading to a Advanced or Ultimate level of Alphacam.
 
This 2 hour online course will explore the basics of constrained parametric sketching available in Advanced modules or higher of Alphacam.

An experienced Alphacam Training Engineer will guide you through what can and cannot be constrained. Get detailed explanations of the Constraints Project Manger Page, Application Methods and do and  don'ts while constraining geometry.  while applying wWalk through 4 examples applying various different constraints, defining parameters, and equations to control the drawing as desired. Discuss how tool paths react with parametrically constrained geometry.

An experienced Alphacam Training Engineer will guide you through some advanced features and techniques in relation to constrained parametric sketching.  Using some of the examples from the CPS 101 class, learn how to include user layers into the drawing and turn them on or off based on conditional rules that can be applied. Discuss copy rules that can copy any geometry based on parameters and equations to calculate how many copies you want. Explore parametric constraints in the world of work planes and learn how to control the work plane origin parametrically and much more. 

Introductory Alphacam Training

 

Introductory Alphacam Training (IAT) is a mandatory prerequisite for all other Alphacam training courses. This 3-day course will provide users with the foundation they need to maximize the productivity of their business and of the Alphacam software. IAT is designed so that virtually every user who has basic computer and CNC machining knowledge can apply fundamental Alphacam software applications to the daily production of their business.


As with all training classes, IAT is taught by an accredited Alphacam instructor. The instructor will walk each student through the tutorial, answering questions and providing software tips throughout the class. To allow each student to take full advantage of the course, each class will accommodate up to 8 students. This enables the instructor to pay special attention to each student and create a comfortable learning atmosphere for both the student and the instructor.

The objective of this class is to familiarize students with basic features of Alphacam software. This class is excellent for those learning Alphacam for the first time as well as experienced users who would like a refresher course. Understanding IAT is essential for all students who plan to participate in other Alphacam courses so they can take full advantage of the softwares functionality.

Solid Model Feature Extraction and Utilities

Prerequisite: Introductory Alphacam Training Course or 6 months min. experience with Alphacam.  Also note that the techniques discussed during this class require Alphacam Advanced level or higher.
 
This 2 hour online course will explore the solid model feature extraction and utilities available in Advanced modules or higher of Alphacam. If you have come across any of the following types of files: .dxf or .dwg with solid bodies, IGES as a solid, STEP, Parasolid, STL, Solid Edge, SolidWorks, Inventor,
ACIS, Catia and ProE, and don't know how to address them in Alphacam, then
this is the class for you.
 

An experienced Alphacam Training Engineer will guide you through the solid model file types that can be input into Alphacam. Expand your knowledge of utilities that are available specifically for use with STL file types. Receive an in-depth technical explanation of the utilities and functions that are available for all other solid model file types.
